1921 - Born in in Havana, Cuba.

1936 - Mijares begins his studies in painting in the school of Arts of San Alejandro.

1942 - begins exhibiting his work throughout Cuba, and wins different awards

1950 - he participated in a collective exhibition of Cuban painters in the Muesum of Modern Art in Paris

1953 - he begins painting concrete forms, until 1967. He joined the group “Ten Concrete Painters”

1968 - he leaves Cuba and comes into exile in Miami. A few months later he exhibits with the Gala Group( Soriano, Salinas, Riveron, Osvaldo, RoxanaMc Allister) in the Koubek Center in a show entitled “ Generations of Cuban Painters” exhibit. In that same year he participates in “10 Cuban Painters” at the Bacardi Gallery in Miami, and in Washington, D.C.He also participates in a collective exhibit at Antilla Gallery in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
